Elementary Examples:

Shape Puppets:  
Create a puppet with geometric shapes, Then add detail to their puppet with crayon or marker.

Self Portraits:
Self Portraits are a great drawing project because it can teach students to draw beyond just what they think they see... but to draw what is really there.


Name Design:
Write your name and then fill in the space around their name using a variety of lines and shapes, cover the whole page.

Crazy Swirly Line Drawing:
Students drew one lone loopy and crazy line that covered most of their paper. They then filled in the shapes with as many colors, shapes and patterns that they could think of. 

Texture Rubbings:
Students divide their paper into several sections, then create texture rubbings using peeled crayons and plastic texture sheets.

Observational drawing:
Students pick an object to draw and then color.

Crazy Hair Day: 
Students create a self portraits using crazy lines and colors to give ourselves a "Crazy Hair Day". The goal was to fill up the entire paper with hair.

Warm or Cool Shape Design:
Students will pick whether they want to use warm and cool colors. Then they create shapes to create a design and then they fill in their design. Some students may chose to divide their paper in half and do one half warm and one half cool.

Create a presentation to share information about different art periods:

Select powtoons, animoto, iMovie, photostory, thinglink, prezi, etc.

Create a Fake Book of an artist (Fake Book Template at Google Classroom)

Create an ABC Book about the different artist and their creations.

Create a Google slide or site to share about an artist in history and their life.

Create a comic strip about the life of an artist.

Create an interview podcast with an artist in history

Create a sketch or a digital sketch or a video of how to use a sketch tool.  (Submit these to the Madison County Technology Extravaganza)
