After three and a half weeks of virtual learning, Madison County Schools is excited to have students back in the buildings beginning Monday, Sept. 28, 2020. The district will switch from Contingency Plan RED (all virtual learning) to Contingency Plan ORANGE (hybrid A/B attendance option) for elementary and middle school students on Sept. 28. High school students will continue with Contingency Plan RED until fall break. This will remain the district's plan from Sept. 28 through Oct. 9.

Here's what parents need to know:

  • Option 1 students return to in-person instruction beginning Monday, Sept. 28, 2020.
  • Elementary and Middle School students will begin on LEVEL ORANGE.
    • Option 1 students will be divided into two groups.
      • Group A is last name A-K. Attend in person Monday and Wednesday.
      • Group B is last name L-Z. Attend in person Tuesday and Thursday.
      • If you have questions about which days your children should attend, please contact your school.
    • Students will be learning from home on the days they are not attending in person. Learning from home will be directed and facilitated by teachers.
    • On Fridays, everyone will learn from home. Teachers will determine what work will happen on Fridays and they will be available throughout the day.
  • ALL High School students will remain virtual learners until Fall Break.
  • All Option 2 and Option 3 students will continue their current learning model.

  • All bus routes will run. Masks are required for students to ride the bus.

  • Students will be required to wear masks the entire time they are in the buildings.
    • This includes preschool and kindergarten students.
    • The change in masking requirement is due to the order from the Governor and the Kentucky Department of Public Health.

  • Food service will serve breakfast and lunch to students who are attending in person.

  • Food pick up will continue to be offered to all families.
    • Pick up day will be on Fridays beginning Friday, Oct. 2.
    • Pick up will be at all schools from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    • Some evening pick up times will be available as well and we will post that information on social media.
    • Food pick up will remain on the summer feeding program until the end of the year. Families can pick up food even if their children are eating at school while attending in-person.

  • Updated scheduling information will be provided the week before fall break.
