Madison County Schools and the Madison County Health Department are working together to provide the H1N1 vaccine to any student who wishes to be vaccinated. The vaccination clinics will be held in each school beginning Monday, Nov. 2. Students will be vaccinated only if they have a consent form signed by a parent. Madison Middle School was chosen by Wal-Mart for the teacher appreciation of the year award. Ten Madison Middle school teachers were given $100 gift cards from Wal-Mart each to use in their classrooms.

Most kids never give it a second thought if their school backpacks are too heavy or packed correctly. The third Wednesday of September every year is National School Backpack Awareness Day.

Fourth and fifth-grade students at Waco Elementary School donned their rubber boots and spent two days ankle deep in Cane Creek, searching in the water and under rocks for living organisms — all in an effort to fight pollution.
