Kingston First Graders take a trip back in time

Kingston Elementary first graders spent November in 1700-1800s Kentucky. Students made colonial yarn dolls and created quilts. Students created a picture to explain what they were grateful for. Their compositions were transferred to fabric which was combined with batting and backing fabric to make a quilt.

Students then tacked the four corners of their fabric picture and the quilt was bound by their art teacher. They also ground corn and made hoecakes. They described the taste of their freshly made butter on their hot off the griddle hoecakes as “heaven”.
