Shannon Johnson Elementary kicked off the "Go Red" campaign with a Jump Rope for Heart Assembly this week. Students learned about the American Heart Association and their role in fighting the number one killer in the United States, heart disease. The AHA funds research to find out what causes heart disease and stroke and what we can do to prevent it. They also provide much needed educational resources for our schools.
By learning to make smart choices now our students will be less likely to develop heart disease later in life. During the assembly, the school had 86 students performing jump rope skills and routines they had been learning in PE class. SJE's Jump Rope for Heart Event will be February 13 Remember.....Eat healthy stuff, move around enough and live tobacco free!
