Foley Middle School hosted its Ninth Annual May Evening of the Arts Event. Class projects, student writings, artwork and more was on display throughout the hallways. Sixth grade band students performed in small groups. Guests and student volunteers gathered around to hear them perform, for a short time a few teachers added some assistance with their musical talents on the drums. Mrs. Watt’s Industrial Arts class raced CO2 cars. It was quite a competition between two vehicles on whose was the fastest with the orange car beating out the blue.
Artwork from Mrs. Weiner’s classes covered the hallway walls. There were drawings of shoes, proportional skeletons, color wheel paintings, monochromatic still life paintings, printmaking, and more. There were metal masks the students embossed, clay rattles, coil pots, and sculptural shoes made of clay. Class projects from Social Studies, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Computer Skills and more were also displayed.
Student volunteers assisted in preparing works of art for display and hanging up the works. They arranged tables for three-dimensional items and they worked the welcome table and the refreshment table. It was a great opportunity to for the students to gain leadership and organizational skills, as well as school pride.
