Superintendent Elmer Thomas has named David Gilliam the district’s new Chief Academic Officer and Assistant Superintendent. Mr. Gilliam has served the students of Madison County Schools for 21 years, all of them at Madison Southern High School. Mr. Gilliam has served Madison Southern as a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal.
“Mr. Gilliam has been a vital part of the leadership in the district and in our community for a number of years,” said Superintendent Elmer Thomas. “His skills and expertise will be a great resource for our instructional staff and our principals.”
Mr. Gilliam will replace former Chief Academic Officer Randy Peffer, who began working with the Kentucky Department of Education in July. Mr. Gilliam will begin as Chief Academic Officer on Aug. 1.
Donna Caldwell has been selected to serve as interim principal at Madison Southern High School. Ms. Caldwell is currently serving Madison County Schools as the district assessment coordinator. Prior to being DAC for Madison County Schools, Ms. Caldwell was assistant principal at Madison Southern.
Drew Muntz has been selected to serve as interim principal at Madison Central High School. Mr. Muntz is currently serving as assistant principal at Madison Central High School.
Bobby John Harris has been selected to serve as interim principal at Waco Elementary School. Mr. Harris retired from Madison County Schools after 34 years. He served as a teacher and principal at Kirksville Elementary. Mr. Harris has also served as interim principal at Silver Creek Elementary in 2012.
