Dr. Hub Accepts Superintendent Post for Logan County Schools

The Logan County Board of Education announced the selection of Dr. Kevin F. Hub as their next superintendent of schools. Dr. Hub is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and Environmental Geography, Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond with a Masters of Arts in Education degree in Geography Education, and Spalding University in Louisville with a Doctorate in Education in Leadership Education. He is currently serving as Assistant Superintendent and Chief Operating Officer for Madison County Schools and is in his 20th year in education.

“The superintendent screening committee presented the Board of Education with a number of exceptional candidates for consideration," said Board Chairman Kenneth Robertson. "From this pool of very qualified candidates, Dr. Kevin Hub was selected to utilize his skills to take our school system into the future. He has shown skills in academic development, technology options, athletic interests, and a skill for professional leadership. As a Board, we look forward to the future he offers our school system.”

Logan County Schools is one of the top 25 school districts in Kentucky and is presently ranked “Distinguished” in the state’s Unbridled Learning accountability system. The district is also home to two National Blue Ribbon Elementary Schools and four Kentucky Middle Schools to Watch. 

Dr. Hub began teaching geography and mathematics at Madison Central High School in August of 1994, became their assistant principal in January of 2000, and has been assistant superintendent since 2004. Hub's career as an educator came after serving in the military for 40 months including a 6-month tour in Desert Storm. Since 2012, he has served as an adjunct instructor for the University of the Cumberlands after serving as an adjunct instructor for Eastern Kentucky University off and on since 1995.

Current Madison County superintendent Elmer Thomas describes Hub as “an exceptional leader who will hit the ground running in an already exceptional district.”

Hub is the husband of Nanette and is the father of three children Keaton (21), Kasey (11), and Luke (6). He has been recognized for his leadership and public relation skills with the following awards: “Principal with Principles” Award from Forward in the Fifth, “Hall of Fame” Award from the School-to-Careers Labor Market #16, and the 2002 “Education Award” for outstanding contributions to public education by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce. 

Dr. Hub has agreed to a four-year contract. He will begin his tenure as superintendent on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, following the retirement of Marshall H. Kemp.
