Shannon Johnson wins Spoonbread Festival run/walk event

Congratulations to Shannon Johnson Elementary for winning the participation contest of the Spoonbread Festival 5K/1 Mile event on Sept. 22. SJE had 114 participants at the event. The school will receive a $500 prize to be used for its health and wellness program.
 
The Spoonbread Festival event is the first event in the Madison County Triple Crown. The next two events are the Baptist Health Starlight Mile/5K on Friday, Oct. 19, and the Coordinated School Health Pumpkin Run/Walk on Saturday, Nov. 3. Please visit the Coordinated School Health page of the District website for more information about registering for those events.

The school with the highest number of participants at each event wins that event. The school with the highest overall total for all three events wins the Madison County Triple Crown and a $1,000 cash prize. The Starlight Mile prize is $500. The Pumpkin Run prize is $600, $300 and $100 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.
