The Berea Arts Council hosts Walk with the Arts for all of Madison County’s fourth grade classes. It is a great educational event during which artists and artisans demonstrate their talents and the rich cultural arts located here in Berea. Patricia Weiner (visual art) and Amy Harris (gifted and talented) took 11 students from Foley Middle School to volunteer with the Berea College Student Crafts Department that was working the event.
The students not only were able to try their hand with a majority of the arts and crafts, they were also given the opportunity to demonstrate to the four grade classes that came out for the event. They were able to turn wood, throw pottery on the wheel, weave on a loom, make a broom, demonstrate pinch pots, weave a stool, and much more.
8th grade students included Scarlett Rose, Mizuki Ishii, Chase McGee, and Meghan Gopalkrishnan.
7th grade students included Courtney Baktis, Morgan Swope, Levi Howard, Zack Howard, Tyler Sandlin, Copper Ballinger, and Trey Livingood.
