Foley Middle School is structured around a 'Team
Concept'. Each student is assigned to a core team of 4 teachers
(Math, Reading, Social Studies and Science). This team of teachers
has common planning time and may schedule Parent/Teacher
Conferences that include each member. The Team Concept is designed
to allow each student to belong to a family in the school
environment, and to allow teachers to have a better overall
understanding of each child and their unique needs.
In addition to the core team, each student is assigned to a
teacher from the Writing/English Team. Additionally, every student
will have all teachers in both the Creative Arts and Wellness
Teams. If a child is not reading at his/her grade level, then the
child will be assigned to a Reading Specialist from the Reading
Team. These teachers give additional support to ensure that the
child 'catches up'. Similarly, if a child has been identified as
having special needs, then that child will have additional
assistance from a teacher from the Special Education and Speech
Team.
