Berea Walk With The Arts

The Berea Arts Council Walk with the Arts is an educational arts and humanities event, with demonstrations of music, drama, dance and visual art for all fourth grade students in Madison County.  For the past five years, Foley has participated with the event hands-on by teaching at a booth.  In preparation for the event, Lou DeLuca, a well-known textile artist and supporter of the arts,  visited Foley Middle School on Friday September 18th  to teach a lesson on weaving.   Mr. DeLuca explained terms and the process of warping the loom for weaving.  Students also made small cardboard looms.  Walk with the Arts event will be Friday September 25th.

Pottery Wheel

Eighth grade students at Foley Middle School are learning how to throw on the pottery wheel in Mrs. Weiner’s visual art classes.  It is a great hands-on and adventurous experience with a little bit of clay thrown here and there!  One the students enjoy year after year.

School Pictures

Graham Photography will be at school to do fall individual pictures on September 24th.  Green screen technology will be used, so please do not wear green.

Yearbook News

This year, Ms. Fergie is using a feature offered by Jostens (publisher of our Yearbook) called "ReplayIt." With this feature students and parents will be able to upload their own photos into a "Time Capsule" that all students and parents will be able to see at the end of year--it will be sort of a like a slide show of the year. This is a great way for your pictures to be seen, and to be used in the Yearbook! If you have a SmartPhone, you can download the "Replayit" App--if you do not, NO WORRIES, click this link and begin uploading.

Tutoring Opportunity

Not happy with your student’s progress report?  Take advantage of our Saturday morning tutoring opportunity.  Tomorrow there will be 2 certified teachers available from 9-12 in the FMS library to assist your student in “catching up” on their work.  It is the student’s responsibility to bring their missing assignments with them.  Students will not stay the entire time.  When they finish their work, they will call you for pick up.  Students do NOT have to be in dress code and can come in or leave at any time.  This is a free service for the students of Foley where we challenge everyone to pursue success.
