2017 Madison County Technology Extravaganza Student with certificate from tech night.

April 20, 2017, students K-12 were recognized for their skills in the use of technology. The Technology Extravaganza is open to all Madison County students and projects can be completed in school and at home. MCS LPC to convene for 2nd meeting

The Madison County Schools Local Planning Committee will convene for their second meeting and second public forum. The meeting will be Monday, May 1, 2017, at 5 p.m. local time at the Madison County Board of Education (301 Highland Park Drive, Richmond). The purpose of the meeting will be to consider amending the current District Facilities Plan (DFP). At the conclusion of the meeting there will be a public forum.

2017-2018 school year calendar set by the Board

The Madison County Board of Education voted to approve the calendar for the 2017-2018 school year. The school year will begin for students on Wednesday, Aug. 16, and end on Friday, May 25. The calendar includes a three-day fall break the first week of October as well as a full week of spring break the first week of April. The calendar can be viewed HERE.

MSHS bass fishing teams place 1st and 2nd in state tournament MSHS bass fishing tournament winners

Madison Southern High School recently competed in the TBF State Championship at Lake Cumberland. During this competition, which hosted more than 192 boats of high school fishers, MSHS had boats that placed 1st and 2nd. This was the largest high school fishing tournament that TBF had ever put on. These boaters were Brandon Turner and Seth Hembree with 15 pounds, 2 ounces for first place and Blake Harold and Cameron Cochran with 14 pounds, 10 ounces for second place.

Band Concert

The award-winning 6th, 7th, and 8th grade  Foley Middle School band would love to invite you to the Assessment Preview Concert March 21st at 6pm in the Foley Middle School gym (free of cost). You will have a chance to hear all three grades perform the pieces that they will perform next week at the district band assessment hosted at EKU Center for the Arts. 6th grade students need to report to gym by 5:30pm with instrument and music. 7th/8th grade students need to report to gym with instrument and music by 5:45pm. We hope to see everyone there!

School Dance

There will be a school dance on Friday, March 24, 2017 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m.  Admission will be $5.00.  Concessions will be available for purchase.

Warriors' Artwork Displayed in Community

We are proud of our Warriors that have artwork displayed in the community! 

Several of our students have artwork in the Berea Arts Council Young at Art Exhibit.  The Berea Arts Council is a non-profit organization that promotes the arts within the community.  Artwork will be on display from March 3rd through the 18th.

Foley Middle School is excited to announce a community partnership with Noodle Nirvana in Berea.  The restaurant will be displaying Tree of Life drawings made by 7thgrade visual art students from March 10th until after Earth Day April 22nd

No School For Students

There will be no school for students on Friday, March 17, 2017.

9 Weeks Ends

The third 9 weeks end will end on Friday, March 10, 2017.  Report Cards will be sent home on Tuesday, March 14, 2017.

Foley art teacher's article featured in national magazine Foley Art Teacher Patricia Weiner

Congratulations to Mrs. Patricia Bryant Weiner, Art Teacher at Foley Middle School. Mrs. Weiner submitted an article to School Arts Magazine along with Foley student samples. The article, As Seen Through Their Eyes, is published in the March 2017 edition. 

National Danish Performance Team

The National Danish Performance Team will be hosting a workshop at Foley Middle School for the entire student body on March 6, 2017.

KPREP Testing Window

Our KPREP Testing Window is May 2nd - 8th, 2017.  Please try to avoid scheduling any appointments (doctor, dentist, etc.) on these days, if at all possible. 

"As Seen Through Their Eyes" in National Publication Mrs. Weiner's article in School Arts Magazine

Mrs. Weiner, our Visual Arts teacher, has written an article about a project that her students complete in her class, "As Seen Through Their Eyes".  Students' art work and Mrs. Weiner's article has been published in the March edition of the SchoolArts Magazine.  SchoolArts Magazine is a national art education magazine committed to promoting excellence, advocacy, and professional support for educators in the visual arts.  The article can be found on pages 42 - 43.

Bluegrass Honor Band Warriors Chosen for Bluegrass Honor Band

Congratulations to these 7th and 8th grade band students for auditioning and placing among the top in their section at Bluegrass Honor Band! These fourteen outstanding students were selected along with several other students from different counties across the state. It is an exceptional honor! We would like to invite you to come listen this Saturday as they will perform a concert as members of the Bluegrass Honor Band at 5:00pm in the Bourbon County High School Auditorium (free of cost). Way to go Warriors!!!!!!
