Excited to announce that our 6th and 8th grade visual art students have been busy planning and working on a conceptual work of art that will be on display at the Berea Arts Council for The Book Transformed exhibition. This was a group project that our students actively worked on and we are excited to have this on display with professional artists.
The opening of the exhibition will be Friday October 6th. There will be an opening reception from 5:30-7:30 with light refreshments served, usually cookies and punch. This is an opportunity for the artists to meet and show their works of art. The show will be on display from October 6th through November 11th. The Berea Arts Council is located in the Artist Village (Old Town) at 139 North Broadway in Berea.
To create their Alphabet Collage for the Book Transformed exhibition at the Berea Arts Council, 6th grade students from Foley Middle School’s visual art class cut up old dictionaries. Using a printmaking technique, they each created two letters from the alphabet on a foam printing plate and transferred the image onto dictionary pages.
To create their ABC Art for the Book Transformed exhibition at the Berea Arts Council, 8th grade students from Foley Middle School’s visual art class cut up old dictionaries to age with dark teas and coffee. Each student was assigned two letters from the pages of the dictionary. The students created an image to represent each word they chose from their dictionary pages. Using traditional pen & ink techniques of hatching, cross-hatching, and stippling, they added value with various inks.
