Although the start of the school year is still more than a month away, it is time to start planning for the beginning of the school year! Click BACK TO SCHOOL INFO for back to school information for each school.

Glenn Marshall Elementary Back to School Night

This year, Back to School Night at GME will take place over three nights and is divided by grade levels.  The schedule will be as follows from 6:00-8:00 p.m. each evening:

*Monday, August 13th: 1st Grade and SSP

*Tuesday, August 14th: 2nd and 3rd Grade

*Thursday, August 16th: 4th and 5th Grade

Summer Feeding Program Available to Children 18 and under

Madison County Food Service is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children 18 and under without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.


Meals will be provided, at a first come, first serve basis, at the sites and times as follows:

Madison County Extension Service partners with farmers markets for Power of Produce

Join the Madison County Cooperative Extension Service this summer to learn about the Power of Produce. During each visit, kids ages 4 to 18 can try a "hello" bite and complete an activity to earn up to $4 in Farmers Market Money to be used at the market that day.

School is out for summer break, but the learning and fun don't have to end! There are summer opportunities for children of all ages throughout the summer. Glenn Marshall Elementary New Student Registration for 2018-2019 School Year

New student registration for Glenn Marshall Elementary School will be held at the following dates and times:

July 30, 2018 12-4 pm

August 7, 2018 2-6 pm

Superintendent Thomas announces retirement Superintendent Elmer Thomas

Madison County Schools Superintendent Elmer Thomas announced his intent to retire at the Board of Education meeting March 22. Thomas has served as superintendent for the past 5 school years. He intends to retire during the summer of 2018.

2018-2019 school year calendar set by Board

The Madison County Board of Education voted to approve the calendar for the 2018-2019 school year. The school year will begin for students on Wednesday, Aug. 22, and end on Friday, May 24. The calendar includes a three-day fall break in October as well as a full week of spring break the first week of April. The calendar can be viewed HERE.

Board approves proposed rezoning plan

Madison County Schools Board of Education approved the proposed rezoning plan to take effect in August 2018. Assistant Superintendent Randy Neeley presented the plan and then answered questions from the Board members. The plan was approved with a vote of 4-1 with the opposing vote coming from Board Member Mary Renfro. The proposed plan includes the new zone for Boonesborough Elementary and outlines the changes for other elementary schools as well as the shift for middle schools.


Schools affected include: Boonesborough Elementary, White Hall Elementary, Glenn Marshall Elementary, Kit Carson Elementary, Daniel Boone Elementary, and Kirksville Elementary; as well as B. Michael Caudill Middle, Madison Middle, and Clark-Moores Middle.
