MCHS Band Victory Celebration

Celebrate the MCHS Marching Band's back-to-back 5A State Championships at Apollo Pizza's downtown location TONIGHT from 5:00-9:00 PM.  25% of proceeds will be donated to the band.

SENIORS: Help With College Admissions

Keith Ritchie, our KHEAA representative, will be Madison Central HS on Monday, November 30th to help any senior with college applications.  He will be in Computer Lab C from 8:15-12:30.  If you have students that still need to apply to college, or simply have questions about college applications, FAFSA, KEES money, etc., please send them to Keith during that time.

Can-U-Care? Food Drive a Success!

MCHS & KY-Tech, along with Waco Elementary & Clark Moores Middle School, collected approximately 4000 cans of food in the annual Can-U-Care food drive for local families this year.  Great job students!!

Voting Begins Today for Made by Milk Contest

The Made by Milk contest encourages students to build strong bones with milk and flex their creative muscles by repurposing milk cartons. Students from Foley Middle School's Sculpture Club have spent the last eight weeks after school working toward entering this nationwide contest.

My School: Silver Creek Elementary

Exciting things are happening in music education at Silver Creek Elementary! After a hiatus of a few years, the Bobcat Choir is back in action! In addition, we have started a brand new Violin Club at Silver Creek! Both groups are open to all fourth and fifth grade students.

Support MCHS Science Olympiad

The MCHS Science Olympiad Team is preparing for the MIT (Massachussetts Institute of Technology) Invitational in Cambridge, MA, in January and is vigorously fundraising to financially support all of the students going on this trip.   The Richmond Underground has graciously agreed to hold a spirit night on Friday December 11th from 3-9pm.  They are providing us with a very generous portion of the profits for every laser tag game purchase that evening.  Click here for flyer.

EKU Representative at MCHS

Eastern Kentucky University will be coming to meet with interested Seniors on Tuesday, December 1st at 2:00 pm in the Lecture Hall.  Any interested senior should sign up to meet with them in the Guidance Office ahead of time.  They will be bringing current students to discuss admissions, college life and all student activities offered. It would be a great time for seniors to ask questions about any EKU topic.


AP Test Registration

Online registration for AP exams is now open.  To avoid a late fee, registration must be completed by February 25.  Instructions follow...

Support the Ellis Family

Many people in our community are asking for ways to support the Ellis Family during this difficult time. Fundraisers and other opportunities are popping up across the community. MCHS Tutoring

Madison Central and GEAR UP have after school tutoring available for almost every subject and grade level Monday through Thursday.  Please remind your child that they can sign up for tutoring in room 3110 if they need assistance.  If you have questions, you can contact Academic Specialists, Jennifer Ramsey or Stacy Brockman.

Governor's Scholars Program

Reminder to those interested in applying for the Governor’s Scholars Program:      GSP applications are due back no later than Wednesday, January 6, 2016 by 3:00 pm to Mrs. Palmer!!!!!! 

My School: Kit Carson Elementary

Fifth grade students at Kit Carson Elementary School recently honored local veterans at our annual Veterans Day program. To prepare, students practiced singing patriotic songs in music, prepared to deliver speeches in language arts class, decorated stars in art and social studies, and wrote cards of thanks to veterans. During the program, students delivered speeches about the history of Veterans Day and sang patriotic songs. One student, Isaiah, accompanied some of the songs on his drum, while KC Handchimes played an Armed Forces Medley and God Bless America.

My School: Kirksville Elementary

Kirksville Elementary School celebrated “Unity Day” on Oct. 22 as the culminating activity to Bullying Prevention Month. Students and staff wore orange to show support for students who have been bullied and to lead the movement against bullying.

District partners with MealViewer to provide mobile menus

Madison County Schools Food Service is excited to announce a partnership with MealViewer to provide staff, students, and parents a menu they can view on their phone or any computer. As menus change, the menus will be updated, allowing parents to view the new menu within minutes.

Parent University

What is Parent University?

Parent University is a community collaborative to help parents become full partners in their children’s education. Offers workshops to provide information and equip families on college and career preparation. Parent University is also provided to increase parental involvement in the school and empower families in the success of their children.

Gear Up Announcement for Parents

Parents:  As GEAR UP continues to provide information on secondary education for our students and families, our office is sponsoring, Class 101-Eastern Kentucky with Kim Gardner! Class 101 will work with students and their parents in college preparation. There will be (5) two hour workshops on various topics related to the college admissions process. The workshops will include information on building effective college list, how to apply for scholarships (institutional, outside, community), building the college resume, preparing for the ACT.

KY Center Governor's School for Arts

GSA applications accepted beginning Oct. 1

Students interested in attending The Kentucky Center Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA) can apply for ArtShops and GSA summer program auditions beginning Oct. 1.

Volunteer Confidentiality Training for 2015-16

Volunteer recertification letters (lavender color) were mailed last week from the MCBE.  These letters must be returned to the Youth Services Center or MCBE as soon as possible in order to remain on the volunteer certification list for next year.
