MCHS Softball Tryouts

Softball tryouts will be Monday, February 15 and Tuesday, February 16 after school. Time will be determined by the weather. All girls 7th grade and up who wish to tryout need to contact Coach Rogers before February 15 at Daniel.rogers@madison.kyschools.us and have a 2015-2016 KHSAA sports physical.

MCHS mock trial takes 1st place at UK

Congratulations to the Madison Central High School Mock Trial for taking 1st place at the UK Mock Trial's 5th Annual Wildcat Invitational. This team is an amazing group of kids that work hard and represent Madison Central High School, Madison County Schools, and Richmond very well every time they compete.

Health Researchers Youth Academy

This opportunity is available for current juniors interested in learning about the vast array of careers and opportunities available in health care research.  All application materials are due by March 25, 2016.  Apply online and receive more information at https://medicine.mc.uky.edu/UKAHECCamp.  Brochures are also available in the guidance office.

School in session Feb. 15

In an effort to maximize face-to-face instructional time and in light of our recent inclement weather, Madison County Schools WILL BE in session on Monday, February 15.

Fashion Institute of Design Rep at MCHS

A representative from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising will be located in the MCHS cafeteria on Wednesday, February 24 to meet with interested students.

ACT Prep Workshop at MCHS

On Tuesday, March 1, all juniors at Madison Central High School will be taking the ACT. A score increase of even one or two points on the ACT college admissions test can make the difference in your student getting accepted at the college of their choice and/or qualifying for scholarships and honors programs.

 

ZAPS Learning Company has scheduled a seminar at MCHS to provide your student with strategies and tips that have been shown to raise ACT scores 1 to 5 points. For more than three decades, ZAPS has been helping high school students do their best on the ACT.

9 MCS teachers awarded Innovation Grants

Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass (BPBG) presented a $10,000 donation to Madison County Schools to fund innovative classroom activities focused on science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Teachers from nine different schools will share the funds from BPBG for activities to promote student-centered learning.

Support the Daniel Ellis Memorial Foundation

Fundraiser for the foundation will be a memorial 5k race on Saturday, March 19

  • Special rate for students
  • Run/walk event
  • Out-of-towners may sign up to do the 5k virtually…they will be sent a race t-shirt and bib!!

Winter Weather Information

It's finally winter! The cold temperatures create a good time to remind parents about a few things:
1. If school is cancelled due to inclement weather, the cancellation will be found on the district's website, social media pages, and on the local news outlets. If you see a social media friend post that school has been cancelled, please check one of the official sites to confirm. Those sites can be found by clicking these links:  Facebook or Twitter.
2. The district does use a delay system on occasion. If a delay is called and you need additional information, please click HERE.
3. This year, the district has the opportunity to use Non-Traditional Instructional Days (NTI: Madison). NTI days will be announced in the same way that cancelled or delayed days are announced. If you have not received information from your child's school, please contact them as soon as possible. Additional NTI: Madison can be found HERE.

A representative from Union College will be located in the MCHS cafeteria on Tuesday, Februrary 16, during lunch to meet with interested students.

Parent University

What is Parent University?

Parent University is a community collaborative to help parents become full partners in their children’s education. Offers workshops to provide information and equip families on college and career preparation. Parent University is also provided to increase parental involvement in the school and empower families in the success of their children.

Volunteer Confidentiality Training for 2015-16

Volunteer recertification letters (lavender color) were mailed last week from the MCBE.  These letters must be returned to the Youth Services Center or MCBE as soon as possible in order to remain on the volunteer certification list for next year.
