MCHS Fall Formal Dance

The MCHS Fall Formal will be held on Saturday, November 15, from 8:00 PM til midnight.  See rules for dances on page 27 of MCHS student handbook for eligibility to attend.  Tickets to the dance must be purchased in advance and will only be sold during 4th period in the library Wednesday-Friday, November 12-14 for $10 each. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Attention Sophomores

Attention sophomores: You are invited to apply for the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar.  This leadership seminar will be held in May in Lexington.  This is a great experience to help build your leadership skills and your resume.  Applications are available in the guidance office and are due to Mrs. Tipton no later than Friday, November 21.

Spring Dual Credit Application Deadline

Spring Dual Credit Application Deadline – Students currently taking EKU NOW courses do not need to apply for the spring semester.  If you are NOT currently participating in EKU Dual Credit, but want to apply, the applications for Spring 2015 are due on November 1. You will also need to see your counselor.  Tuition acknowledgement forms, transcripts and ACT scores should accompany new applications.  The application is available online at http://dualcredit.eku.edu under the "How To Apply" link.  

All high school juniors will need to reapply for Fall 2015 at the end of the school year (more information to follow at a later date). 

Madison County Schools names new Director of District Wide Services

Madison County Schools named Charles “Chuck” Cash as director of district wide services this week. Mr. Cash will begin his role on December 1, 2014.

Mr. Cash began work in Madison County Schools in December 2003 as science and social studies teacher at Foley Middle School. While at Foley Middle, Mr. Cash also served students as girls’ softball coach and girls’ basketball coach. Mr. Cash served as assistant principal at Madison Southern High School from July 2006 to July 2007 before begin named associate principal at Madison Southern in July 2007. In December 2013, Mr. Cash was named principal at MSHS and is currently serving in that role.

AP Exam Registration Information

Taking an Advanced Placement exam is an important part of any AP course. Scoring well on an AP exam can often earn students college credit for their high school class, saving a significant amount on tuition.

For the 2015 AP exams, students at Madison Central High School will be registering online.

EKU partnership with NBC Learn will benefit MCS students

A new partnership between Eastern Kentucky University and NBC Learn will provide students and faculty access to premium education videos, which will also be available to classrooms throughout the Madison County School District.

EKU is the first institution in the Commonwealth to gift the educational resource to a local school district. The University’s Model Laboratory School – a department of the College of Education that teaches students from pre-K through 12th grade while providing field experiences for EKU students – already has access to the NBC Learn collection.

2014 Unbridled Learning Data Released

Madison County Schools is pleased to announce that the district has increased its scores enough to be designated as a "Proficient - Progressing" district. Proficient means the district ranks in the 70th percentile or above among all 173 Kentucky districts. The district reached the 87th percentile this year among Kentucky districts.

Recycle Ink Cartridges to Help MCHS STLP

Do you own a printer and throw away your ink cartridges? Now there is a better solution. Bring your empty ink cartridges to Madison Central High School and help out the STLP Club. By doing this you will get a chance to recycle your ink cartridges and will be doing a well appreciated favor by helping the STLP Club raise money for new robotics kits. It doesn’t cost anything to donate your ink cartridges but will help the STLP immensely. Thank you for helping us out!

Conversation in the Kitchen

Conversation in the Kitchen is a Lexington driven event to promote conversations and relationship enrichment within teenager’s families across Central Kentucky.
This one-night event, on February 28, 2015, at Fasig-Tipton Farm, has several behind-the-scenes activities leading up to the 2015 Conversation in the Kitchen grand finale, hosting 300+ people across Central Kentucky. We will provide an evening of entertainment to include a cooking contest between teenage finalists from Central Kentucky public middle and high schools, whose winning essays qualify them to enter the middle or high school cooking contests.
