Madison County Schools Fall Break is October 8, 9, and 12. There will be no classes until Tuesday, Oct. 13. Enjoy your time off!

Madison County Fall Break

Students in Madison County will be on fall break the following dates:  October 8, 9 & 12.  Teachers will return Monday, October 12 for professional development day.

My School: Madison Central High School

The new school year is off to a great start at Madison Central!  Students and staff kicked off the new year with an opening day pep rally on the football field in order to welcome students back and create excitement for the new year.

MCHS Talent Show:

  • Audition sign ups during lunch on October 26th through 30th-there is a $5 non-refundable fee to register. 
  • Ticket sales in the cafeteria on November 10th, 11th & 12th.  
  • Night performance on November 12th

Parent University

What is Parent University?

Parent University is a community collaborative to help parents become full partners in their children’s education. Offers workshops to provide information and equip families on college and career preparation. Parent University is also provided to increase parental involvement in the school and empower families in the success of their children.

Gear Up Announcement for Parents

Parents:  As GEAR UP continues to provide information on secondary education for our students and families, our office is sponsoring, Class 101-Eastern Kentucky with Kim Gardner! Class 101 will work with students and their parents in college preparation. There will be (5) two hour workshops on various topics related to the college admissions process. The workshops will include information on building effective college list, how to apply for scholarships (institutional, outside, community), building the college resume, preparing for the ACT.

MCS leading area districts on Unbridled Learning Assessment

Madison County Schools is pleased to announce that the district outperformed all seven surrounding county school districts as well as Berea Independent Schools in the 2015 Unbridled Learning Assessments. The district remains designated as a "Proficient" district. Proficient means the district ranks in the 70th percentile or above among all 173 Kentucky districts. MCS increased it ranking from the 87th percentile last year to 89th this year among Kentucky districts.

College Fair Coming to MCHS

College Fair for seniors at MCHS in the Main Building Gymnasium on Monday, November 2, 2015 from 8:30 – 11:00 a.m.

Approximately 35 colleges and universities will be represented at the fair including community colleges, technical colleges, salon academies, branches of the military and 2 and 4 year colleges and universities.

KY Center Governor's School for Arts

GSA applications accepted beginning Oct. 1

Students interested in attending The Kentucky Center Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA) can apply for ArtShops and GSA summer program auditions beginning Oct. 1.

MCHS Tribal Trek 5K

UK Representative at MCHS

A representative from UK will be in the MCHS cafeteria on Wedesday, October 21 during lunch to meet with interested students.

My School: Shannon Johnson Elementary

Shannon Johnson Elementary kicked off its Watch DOGS (Dads of Great Students) program with a Dads and Kids pizza night on Sept. 15. The kickoff included 136 dads or father figures attending.

Northern KY University Rep at MCHS

A representative from NKU will be in the Madison Central HS cafeteria on Friday, October 16 during lunch to meet with interested students.

MC JROTC, community partners working with middle schools

The Clark-Moores/B. Michael Caudill Youth Service Center is collaborating with LTC Rich Livingston, Command Sergeant Major Otis Hooper, and the Madison Central Army JROTC program to provide a middle school cadet corps leadership program for students at Clark-Moores and B. Michael Caudill middle schools. The program will focus on leadership, citizenship, team building and several other character education topics.

MCHS student selected for PEP program at UK

Madison Central High School's Hannah Hazelwood attended a highly competitive and very strenuous four and half week academic residential program at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. Hannah was among 35 incoming college students attending the Professional Education Preparation Program (PEPP Scholars). This program helps prepare students for the admissions process for medical or dental school, as well as a successful career in undergrad.

University of Alabama Rep at MCHS

A representative from the University of Alabama will be located in the MCHS cafeteria between 11:00 - 1:00 to meet with interested students on Tuesday, October 20.

MCHS Fall Formal Dance

The Madison Central Fall Formal Dance will be held on Saturday, November 14 from 8:00-11:00 PM.  Tickets must be purchased in advance during the school day.  Tickets will not be sold at the door.  Cost: $10. See MCHS student handbook for dance guidelines.

Volunteer Confidentiality Training for 2015-16

Click here for the 2015-16 volunteer confidentiality training schedule.  All trainings will be presented by the School FRYSC.


Volunteer recertification letters (lavender color) were mailed last week from the MCBE.  These letters must be returned to the Youth Services Center or MCBE as soon as possible in order to remain on the volunteer certification list for next year.
