Madison County Scholars

The Madison County Advanced Scholars  Program is an elite group of students striving to earn the title of an Advanced Scholar.  Once all requirements are met, this accomplishment will be noted with a special seal on his/her high school diploma. 

Requirements:

NOTE: Enrollment, as a freshman,  in the program does not lock a student into a set curriculum, but guides the counselors, advisors, parents, and the student when scheduling the student for classes. 

Cumulative GPA:  3.0 higher

ACT Composite:  22 or higher

Take 3 AP Courses (with a passing grade of C)

Take 4 Additional AP/Dual Credit Classes  (with a passing grade of C)


Frequently Asked Questions

How are incoming freshmen invited to be in the Scholar's Academy?

He or she as shown exceptional aptitude academically on the state tests.   The Board of Education sends a list of those 8th graders meeting the determined cut off score. 
 

What if a Non-Scholar meets the Scholar Requirements?

He or she must notify the counseling office by the end of the 1st semester of their senior year in order to be recognized at graduation. 
 

What if AP Courses Are Not For Me?

Students have until mid-term of the first grading period to drop an AP course.

If a student knows they will not meet the 3 AP courses requirement, he or she needs to notify the counselor so that the MCASA Status can be end dated in Infinite Campus.

The Advanced Scholars Academy is not for every student, but it is for the student that has a personal desire to reach the pinnacle of academic success, is not afraid of hard work, and "straight" A's are not their gauge for personal, academic satisfaction.
