When entering high school, students will be faced with a wide variety of choices. Some of these choices include what elective classes to take, what clubs and organizations in which to participate, and whether or not to sign-up for a sports team. The students will also have to begin to look at academic pathways and think about their career opportunities for the future. All of these decisions, freedoms, and requirements can seem overwhelming.
To help relieve the fears and frustrations while encouraging academic success, Madison Southern has established a Freshman Academy as a means of transitioning a student from the middle school to the high school environment. Its mission is to provide an atmosphere that will allow freshmen to feel comfortable and valued in the high school setting while at the same time providing a structured curriculum that will enhance learning.
