Students will be able to read, listen to and interpret culturally diverse American literary/artistic selections (poetry, novel, short stories, drama, nonfiction, art, music). The student will learn to analyze historical perspectives, recurring themes, writers' styles, and artistic value through reader responses. Students will also evaluate and apply good writing skills in terms of purpose, content, organization and style through peer and individual reflective responses with a focus on persuasion. Forms may include speeches, editorials, articles, or proposals.
