 WELCOME!! SALVE!!

You have discovered Coach Kling's online classroom for the History Experience!

Before we continue on, let me tell you a bit about myself and my own past.  I was born and raised in a small town on the banks of the Wabash River in Southern Illinois called Mt. Carmel.  I graduated from Mt. Carmel High School in 1995, and while there was involved in everything from Football, Track, and Powerlifting to Drama, Peer Leadership, and Foreign Language Club.  After graduation, I went to Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana (about 1 hour from Indianapolis) and got my B.A. in World History with a concentration in Ancient and Medieval European History, and found time to play a little college football as well.  After graduating from Wabash, I moved down to Evansville, Indiana and received my teaching certification at the University of Southern Indiana.

In 2001, I got my first teaching job at Evansville Reitz High School and was also a football and track coach.  While at Reitz I taught World Civ, Government, and Latin.  In 2008, I moved on to a head coaching position at Triton Central High School in Fairland, Indiana.  While at Triton Central, I was the Dean of Discipline and a Latin teacher.  Also, while I was there, I was first introduced to Project Based Learning (PBL).  This style of teaching has changed my career and has greatly changed the way I teach and what I believe in as a teacher.  Finally, after three years at Triton Central, I realized that I needed to get back to that feeling of home and that is when I moved to Berea, Kentucky and started teaching at Madison Southern.  I can finally say that I think I have found a place to settle for good!!

I am a proud father and husband as I have been married to my wife Amy for almost 10 years.  We have two little boys, Alex (6) and Jackson (3).   We all love Berea and are proud to call it home.
