•  ARRIVAL

Car riders who eat breakfast are encouraged to arrive at 7:00 a.m . No arrivals before 7:00 a.m. because there is no one on duty to supervise. All 1 st through 5 th grade students go directly to classrooms at 7:05 a.m. Kindergarten students will assemble in front of the office. All students should be at school by 7:20 a.m. Classes begin and tardies are recorded at 7:25 a.m.

•  CAR RIDERS / MORNING

All car riders will be dropped off in the rear parking lot. Fourth and fifth graders and any student eating breakfast may be dropped off at door C. Cars must come to a complete stop in the drop-off zone before students exit the vehicle . Follow staff directions and pull up as far as possible to allow several cars to unload at a time. 

Kindergarten and first through third graders who are not having breakfast must be dropped at the gym entrance, door M, and go directly to their classrooms. (All kindergarten students go to breakfast together after school starts.) 

No children should be released from cars at the front of the building . These are bus lanes only until 7:25 a.m.! Back doors will be locked at 7:25 a.m . Thereafter, all parents must bring students to the office, sign the register, and obtain a tardy slip to give to homeroom teacher. After the first week of school it is not be possible for parents to sign-in at the gym entrance to walk students to class. Kindergarten Independence Day is when all students walk to class by themselves!

WALKERS / A.M.

Any student walking to school must be accompanied by their parent or guardian into the building at the front entrance . Special routes must be followed to the front entrance. This will assure your child's safety, and help to keep children out of traffic patterns as much as possible. No bicycles will be permitted on school property.

A. M. KINDERGARTEN ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR CAR RIDERS

Arrival : Kindergarten students go to their classrooms. Dismissal : Morning Kindergarten students who are car riders will be loaded into cars at door J. Parents will line up in cars along sidewalk and kindergarten aides will assist students to their cars. Morning dismissal is 10:45 a.m.

P.M. KINDERGARTEN ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR CAR RIDERS

Students who arrive by car must stay in the car with parents until buses unload at 10:45 AM. Use visitor parking located next to playground to ensure a safe and orderly arrival with students supervised at all times. Buses unload when kindergarten teachers arrive at front of the building.

•  CAR RIDERS / P.M. DISMISSAL

All afternoon car riders should be picked up at the back entrance, door M. Students will be dismissed by their supervisors starting with youngest students. No cars should move until dismissed by teacher in parking lot. Cars shall not cut around other vehicles . Police will respond and may issue citations if unsafe driving is reported by school personnel.

WALKERS / P.M.

Afternoon dismissal will be at the gym exit, door M. Parents or guardians will receive walking students from supervisors as they exit the building. This will ensure the student leaves within the safety of parental supervision. Walking students must be met. They will not be allowed to leave unless accompanied by their parent or guardian.

Only students may enter at gym door M and door C. All parents and other visitors must come to the office entrance door A and sign-in before entering the building. This includes arrival and dismissal times as well as any classroom visits. Visitor or Volunteer badges must be worn at all times. Wear the badge at the shoulder, so it is easily visible. During the first week of school and when we have special events, a school employee will be at the gym door for visitors to sign-in and out, but not on a daily basis.

•  CHECK-OUT PROCEDURE

Students may check out from school only through the office. Only the persons listed on the check out card will be able to check a student out from school. No one may pick a student up without presenting proper identification in person. No phone requests will be accepted.

•  TRANSPORTATION CHANGES

A note is required for transportation changes to properly notify the bus driver. To avoid confusion, students should know prior to the start of the school day any changes in afternoon transportation. Last minute changes can be confusing for children, teachers, office staff, and bus drivers. No changes will be made after 1:30 p.m.

•  BUS RULES

Students are given a copy of bus rules for parents to sign and return to school. Students must bear their share of responsibility for safety while passengers on school buses. The privilege of any student to ride a school bus is conditioned upon their good behavior and observance of the rules and regulations set forth by the Madison County Board of Education . Rules are posted on the bus and drivers will inform students concerning their expectations for appropriate behavior. School bus safety rules require NO dangling items from backpacks or purses. No toys, live animals, or large objects may be transported on the bus.
