My School: Kit Carson Elementary

Fifth grade students at Kit Carson Elementary School recently honored local veterans at our annual Veterans Day program. To prepare, students practiced singing patriotic songs in music, prepared to deliver speeches in language arts class, decorated stars in art and social studies, and wrote cards of thanks to veterans. During the program, students delivered speeches about the history of Veterans Day and sang patriotic songs. One student, Isaiah, accompanied some of the songs on his drum, while KC Handchimes played an Armed Forces Medley and God Bless America.

Support the Ellis Family

Many people in our community are asking for ways to support the Ellis Family during this difficult time. Fundraisers and other opportunities are popping up across the community. Events will be posted here along with other opportunities to offer your support for Officier Daniel Ellis, his wife Katie, and their family.

My School: Kirksville Elementary

Kirksville Elementary School celebrated “Unity Day” on Oct. 22 as the culminating activity to Bullying Prevention Month. Students and staff wore orange to show support for students who have been bullied and to lead the movement against bullying.
