District's nursing staff vital to day-to-day operations district nursing staff

When you enter the front door of most schools, there is quite a bit to be seen. The front office staff, usually some posters or informational flyers, maybe a few students. But, usually, off to the side there is another office that you may not even notice. Inside of that office sits, what could be considered, one of the unsung heroes of our schools.

Update Immunization

In July, the Kentucky Department for Public Health changed its school immunization regulation to include two immunizations for Hepatitis A and a booster dose of meningococcal vaccine at age 16 along with other required immunizations.

In order to protect all students and their families from vaccine preventable diseases students are required (per 902 KAR 2:060, KRS 158.035, local school board policy 09.21. AP.2) to be up to date with their immunizations. A current immunization certificate must be on file in the student's health records. Failure to comply may result in exclusion from extra curricular activities.

Due to this law the school needs an up-to-date immunization form for each student. If you have not already sent in your updated documentation or if you need help with this, please contact Nurse Barnes at 859-625-6109 she will be happy to assist you. If you have a scheduled appointment with your physician, please contact her as well so that this can be documented.  Most pharmacies and clinics can provide updated immunizations without an appointment.  We appreciate your assistance in this matter.

Please have students return all documentation to the school nurse.

You may also fax it to the school FAX: 859-623-3925
