September is Deaf Awareness Month, a time to celebrate Deaf culture, recognize the history and contributions of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, and promote understanding and communication accessibility. Here in Madison County Schools, we are proud to have three dedicated Teachers for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) who travel throughout our district to support students from preschool through high school.

Starting a School Based Law Enforcement (SBLEA) is not a new endeavor for schools in the State of Kentucky. We have had SBLEA’s across the state for several years. In 2022, new legislation was created to make the process easier. Now there are 46 school districts that have their own police departments. This surge of districts building their own agencies has assisted Madison County in building ours.
