The Kentucky Department for Public Health changed its school immunization regulations to include REQUIRED 2 vaccinations for Hepatitis A for all students and a booster dose of meningococcal vaccine at age 16.
All students are required have a valid Kentucky Immunization Certificate on file at school at all times (refer to 902 KAR 2:060 for details on exceptions and exemptions). This includes all series and boosters for tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis, polio, measles, mumps, and rubella, Hib (Haemophilus Influenzae type b), varicella (chickenpox), hepatitis A, and hepatitis B. Dates of all immunizations (series and boosters) must be documented on the certificate with the month, day and year that the vaccine was received. An expiration date stating when the next immunization is due must be indicated. The administrative regulation 702 KAR 1:160. School Health Services establishes standards and criteria for preventative health care examinations at the local school district level.
