It is the goal of Madison County School district nurses to advance the well-being, academic success and life-long achievement of students. We promote health for all students through the application of professional nursing skills, health education and the development of a personalized health plan so that all students attain their utmost potential. We acknowledge and understand each child’s individual needs, provide leadership for the provision of health services, promote a healthy school environment and serve as a liaison between school, families and the community.
Ensuring health requirements are met is an important aspect of making sure your child is ready for school. Madison County School nurses are responsible for monitoring several student health requirements including immunizations, physicals and dental/vision exams. The nurses also provide staff with trainings for certain health conditions and medication administration, assist with meeting the needs of student IEPs/504 plans and collaborate with agencies in the community to provide health education as needed for our students.
We believe prioritizing your child’s health while at school helps create an environment that encourages learning and safety. The nurses of Madison County Schools strive to be a source of comfort and care for your child. We are dedicated to serving the students and families of Madison County. If you have any questions or concerns contact your child’s school nurse or the District Health Coordinator, Janie Winkler, RN.
