Students with heads down taking an assessment

The ACT is the current college admission exam used by the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) to measure students' level of readiness for college in core academic content areas.  Meeting benchmarks on the the ACT is one way students may demonstrate academic readiness in The Postsecondary Readiness indicator of the state's accountability system for schools.

Administering the ACT as part of the state testing program permits students in the 11th grade to take the exam one time at no cost.  The exam is administered during a school day in March of each year, providing equitable access for all students to participate.
