To ensure that each student is provided with the richest educational experience the district can provide. To facilitate and assist teachers and principals to translate curriculum goals and objectives into meaningful learning experiences for each individual student in the district; and to support the Mission Statement of Madison County Schools.



  • Coordinates the professional development plan within the district/schools to address goals and objectives to meet the needs of students, teachers and staff.
  • Serves as communication link for administrators and teachers regarding professional development training.
  • Develops/maintains/updates a plan for implementing, monitoring, and evaluating the teacher professional development plan
  • Attends and participates in school board meetings regarding curriculum, and schooland district-level program evaluation.
  • Consults with district leadership regarding district and school professional growth and development activities.
  • Coordinates professional development to address areas associated with corrective action plans, progressive discipline, etc.
  • Oversees KTIP process and paperwork.
  • Attends appropriate curriculum and instruction meetings/workshops/conferences, etc. and shares as appropriate and uses the information to further student achievement.
  • Assists teachers, principals, and counselors with questions, problems, and concerns regarding curriculum and instruction processes.
  • Communicates to appropriate staff definitions, timelines, formats, etc., for completing curriculum and instruction activities and compiling data.
  • Maintain a current knowledge base in several areas: curriculum and instruction, SB1, best practices in education, special education, strategies for school improvement, strategies for closing achievement gaps, effective management and communication strategies, all applicable Federal and State regulations, and all local Board policies and procedures.
  • Assist schools with the development and implementation of comprehensive improvement plans and professional growth plans for schools and principals.
  • Work on the development, implementation, and evaluation of the comprehensive district improvement plan, and other school district projects and committees.
  • Assist principals, councils, and staff with assessing school needs and services, instructional programs and strategies, and implementing an effective curriculum and method for improving instruction to ensure that all students learn to their highest potential.
  • Facilitates professional development activities on Curriculum & Instruction.
  • Collaborate with district staff and others as needed to provide effective support, focused on student achievement for all students for each school.
  • Oversees district gifted and talented education K-12; provides leadership and ensures district compliance with statutes and regulations for categories of intellectual, specific academic, creativity, leadership, and visual and performing arts.
  • Establishes district procedures and assist schools in implementation of individualized annual Gifted and Talented Student Services Plans including parental input and the monitoring and reporting of student progress each semester.
  • Maintains district, school and student confidential records.
  • Evaluates all aspects of the gifted and talented education on an annual, ongoing basis and makes recommendations for upgrading gifted and talented services.
  • Establishes district procedures and guidelines for informal/formal identification, diagnosis of strengths, gifted behaviors, and talents matched to multiple services delivery options.
  • Develops, implements, scores/norms and analyzes required assessments regarding student data for placement.
  • Orders, maintains, distributes and interprets multiple instruments for required assessments of diverse populations.
  • Serves as liaison between the district, state and the National Research Center for Gifted and Talented.
  • Ensures internal compliance with state statutes and administrative regulations and assists school in implementation.
  • Establishes procedures to obtain parental or guardian permission prior to the administration of individual tests for initial screening and reevaluation. 
  • Maintains regular attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Master’s Degree 
  • Five (5) years’ experience in the area of school leadership
  • At least three (3) years of successful teaching experience 


  • Valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate
  • Certification as a school principal
